The Slovenian ITS Association, under the umbrella of the Electrotechnical Association of Slovenia, is organizing the 33rd International Symposium on Electronics in Transport – ISEP 2026, which promotes a strategic objective of integrating and strengthening the European Research Area in Slovenia as well as in the other member States, and some nearby countries in South Eastern Europe and Western Balkans.
The theme of the 2026 Symposium is “Intelligence on the Move”. The theme centers on integrating Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS) with smart mobility initiatives. It focuses on leveraging advanced technologies and sustainable practices to optimise transportation systems, reduce environmental impact, and enhance overall efficiency and sustainability. This entails implementing innovative solutions, such as smart traffic management, renewable-energy-powered vehicles, and eco-friendly infrastructure, to create a more sustainable and intelligent transport ecosystem. Innovative services offer an opportunity to improve mobility, especially in Southeastern Europe, where poor transport infrastructure and demographic challenges are significant obstacles to faster development.
On the other hand, it is important to establish a research network in Slovenia and neighboring countries in the field of ITS and to link it to European and regional research. Each of you will bring your own aspirations to the Symposium and share them with both new and longtime colleagues.
Unique to this event is the encouragement of participation by Ph.D. students involved in current state-of-the-art research and practical issues concerning ITS. The symposium will provide Ph.D. students with the opportunity to present their research to a knowledgeable audience. At the same time, it will provide an opportunity to present the achievements of Slovenian and foreign researchers.
Furthermore, the symposium enables participants from ministries, universities, research organisations, and industry to establish contacts that facilitate the efficient transfer of research results to the market, in line with users’ needs and expectations across all modes of transport.
The symposium also aims to encourage dialogue and cooperation among participants working to solve today’s mobility challenges and identify common ITS solutions.
